What is World Zombie Day?

World Zombie Day was born in Pittsburgh’s Monroeville Mall in 2006, the location of George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead. More than 50 cities worldwide now take part, including New York, Pittsburgh, Paris, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Seattle and Tokyo.

The idea is simple: fans of zombie culture come together, take over a bit of the city for an afternoon, and raise money for a good cause while doing it.

What happens on the day

Hundreds of zombies meet at a confidential starting point in central London, check in with a steward, and shamble a route between locations across the afternoon, groaning, posing for photographs, and collecting donations along the way.

Stewards in high-vis lead the walk and keep everyone safe at crossings. There are scheduled pauses for photos, drinks, and nibbles.

Accessible to all, family-friendly and dog-friendly

Bring the whole horde out for the day! Children with spooky dispositions will enjoy this perfect primer to Halloween events. All participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome to join their undead owners.

Accessible routes are planned for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Who we're raising money for

World Zombie Day: London is fundraising for The Dead Good Club, a non-for-profit that exists to help people reclaim their attention, build AI and digital media literacy, and stay human in a fast-changing technological world.

Brain rot and doom scrolling are symptoms of our modern age. The people hits hardest by it are often the ones whose brains are wired a bit differently, but we all could use a little help managing our online habits and consumption.

The Dead Good Club celebrates those with a neurospicy and darkly creative disposition, and is open to everyone who believes life should be stranger, kinder and more human. Through education, events, awards, zines, tools and workshops, we create space for curiosity, connection, and creative expression.
